Barwon Health’s Healthy Communities Unit are excited to launch the “Feel Good Food” campaign in partnership with Champions IGA Grovedale. The Feel Good Food Campaign focuses on products that are both good for you and good for the planet.

Using the Australian Government’s Health Star Rating (HSR) system and The George Institute for Global Health’s Planetary Health Rating (PHR), the initiative aims to make it easy for customers to identify foods that are both highly nutritious and have minimal environmental impact.

Where to find the Feel Good Food campaign?

The campaign is running for 8 weeks from 29 April to 23 June 2024 at Champions IGA Grovedale Central, Grovedale Square Shopping Centre, 15-17/79 Heyers Road, Grovedale, Geelong.

Healthy Communities Health Promotion staff will be in-store on Friday 3 May for IGA’s Market Day to provide further information and you can try one of our plant-based smoothies.

Free Recipe Cards

Free recipe cards can be found in store or accessed via the links at the side of this page. Developed by LiveLighter, they have been chosen to support our healthy eating and planetary health message (some of the recipes do contain animal sourced ingredients).

Learn more about the Health Star Rating

The Health Star Rating is a labelling system that rates the nutritional value of packaged foods from ½ star to 5 stars. It provides a quick and easy way to compare products to help you find healthier options. The more stars, the healthier!

What is the Planetary Health Rating?

The Planetary Health Rating ranks packaged foods by estimating the greenhouse gas emissions produced in making and transporting the product. Foods with 4 stars or more have lower greenhouse gas emissions and are better for the planet.

FoodSwitch

We used the FoodSwitch app to find foods that are healthy and planet friendly. Products with a Health Star Rating and Planetary Health Rating of 4.5 or 5 stars have been selected as healthy and sustainable options for this campaign. 

By scanning the barcode on a packaged product, the FoodSwitch app provides simple health and nutrition information with a Health Star Rating and Planetary Health Rating.  It is an easy way to compare similar products and for the customer to make an informed choice. What to look out for in-store?

To find healthy and sustainable options, look for our Healthy and Sustainable tags on shelves located throughout the store.

Due to the campaign’s focus on planetary health, all promoted products are plant-based and include grains, cereals, beans, milk alternatives, canned and frozen fruits and vegetables.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are all healthy options, so they do not have tags.
