About the new Patient Services Assistant Level 1 role (Cleaner, Housekeeper, Food Services Assistant)
The primary role is to undertake a combination of cleaning, food and beverage delivery, patient and non-patient related transportation and support across the facility (in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards). The role requires effective and efficient cleaning of the facility (including public, staff, inpatient and clinical areas), together with the operation of waste disposal and recycling systems, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards.

About the new Environmental Services Team Leader role
As the Team Leader, you will provide support, advice and guidance to all PSAs working within Environmental Services and provide adequate supervision and manage resources effectively. You will ensure the effective and efficient cleaning of the facility (including public, staff, inpatient and clinical areas), together with the operation of waste disposal and recycling systems, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards.

About the new Environmental Services Floor Coordinator role
As the Floor Coordinator, you will represent Environmental Services through the delivery of high-quality services that meet the specific needs of Barwon Health whilst adhering to all policies and procedures. You will provide the relevant areas of Barwon Health and Environmental Services staff with a single point of contact for all matters relating to Environmental Services and oversee all day-to-day matters for the Environmental Services over a 24 hour operation; seven days a week.
- Day-to-day supervision and management of staff
- Ensure work is completed to the required standard
- Complete delegated cleaning audits
- Resolve issues that may impact on expected service delivery standards
- Coverage of vacant shifts
- Ensure on boarding and training of new staff
- Ensure staff completion of mandatory training

Meet Peter - PSA Level 1
"I started to work at Barwon Health University Hospital in November 2016 after spending several years working as a cleaner at schools in the Geelong area.
The transition and difference between working in a school environment to a health facility was both challenging and interesting.
Some of the things that I enjoy the most about working at Barwon Health are different interactions with colleagues, other staff members, the patients and visitors and the broad variety of tasks that we may have to complete on any given day.
We have a great friendly team that are dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors and staff.
A typical day can start with scrubbing floors in various wards, to clinical cleans to sanitising patient rooms, working in our very busy ED and ICU, through to housekeeping in one of our Mental Health facilities." Peter Upston – PSA Level 1
