Careers in Support Services
Meet our new Director of Environmental and Food Services – Andrew Gibson
“I have worked in hospitality and hospital support services for over 20 years and recently moved from another large Melbourne public hospital to Barwon Health to become the new Director, Environmental and Food Services. Since my arrival, I have quickly identified how fortunate I am to have a team of dedicated professionals playing their part in ensuring our patients, visitors and staff are provided with the highest possible standards of cleaning and food services across Barwon Health. As we transition towards a post-pandemic business as usual environment, our ongoing plan within Environmental Services is to focus even more on how we as a team can continuously evolve our service delivery model and to improve the patient experience. So if you’re professional, hardworking and keen to develop a long-term career in healthcare support services, now is a great time to join the Environmental Services teams across Barwon Health with many new opportunities on offer.” Andrew Gibson, Director Environmental and Food Services.

Meet Peter - PSA Level 1
"I started to work at Barwon Health University Hospital in November 2016 after spending several years working as a cleaner at schools in the Geelong area.
The transition and difference between working in a school environment to a health facility was both challenging and interesting.
Some of the things that I enjoy the most about working at Barwon Health are different interactions with colleagues, other staff members, the patients and visitors and the broad variety of tasks that we may have to complete on any given day.
We have a great friendly team that are dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors and staff.
A typical day can start with scrubbing floors in various wards, to clinical cleans to sanitising patient rooms, working in our very busy ED and ICU, through to housekeeping in one of our Mental Health facilities." Peter Upston – PSA Level 1
