Leaving hospital

In order to prepare the room promptly for subsequent patients, please arrange to leave the hospital by 10am on the day of your discharge.

Continuing care

After discharge you may need assistance from community based care services. With your consent, our staff will ensure appropriate referrals are made for you and services arranged.

Hospital in the Home

This service provides care in the home as an alternative to inpatient care. Your doctor may recommend you to the program if your medical condition can be safely and effectively managed at home with the support of your GP, nurses and any other necessary services. The Hospital in the Home staff are available to discuss this service with you and your family on 4215 1530.

Transit Lounge

Located on level three near the main entrance, the Transit Lounge is a safe and comfortable place where you may be asked to wait while we finalise preparations for you to go home. It is staffed by trained nurses and support workers, and its convenient location will make it easier for you to access transport.

Please note the typical discharge time is between 8am and 11am.

Transport home

Arranging transport home after your stay in hospital is the responsibility of the patient and/or family. We understand that in some circumstances patients may have difficulty arranging appropriate transport, and require assistance returning home. If you are having issues arranging transport, please discuss this with a staff member during one of your pre-admission appointments or talk to a nurse on your ward after admission.
