Careers in Nursing - Emergency

GROW AS WE GROW

With around 80,000 presentations each year, the Barwon Health Emergency Department at University Hospital Geelong plays a vital role in providing timely and effective care to people in need.

To ensure that patients receive appropriate care, the department has established short stay units for both adult and paediatric patients. This approach allows the department to deliver the right care at the right time, improving patient outcomes and overall quality of care.

Why work for us

At Barwon Health, we are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients in the Emergency Department, and we are constantly seeking highly qualified individuals to join our team. We offer a range of exciting opportunities for registered nurses, including leadership positions and pathways for career development, such as the Emergency Discovery Program and the Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Nursing.

Furthermore, we take pride in providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that encourages personal and professional growth. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are excited to announce the upcoming construction of a state-of-the-art children's emergency department, with completion slated for September 2024. This new facility will feature 28 additional dedicated treatment spaces, including two fast-track and eight short-stay beds, new treatment rooms and support spaces, and a separate paediatric triage system. Join us in this exciting new venture as we strive to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and their families.
