Geelong Seniors Festival 1-31 October 2020
The Geelong Seniors Festival is the largest community celebration for seniors in regional Victoria and a major partner of the statewide Victorian Seniors Festival. This year's theme is ‘In the Groove!’ and includes a range of virtual events run by local clubs and community groups.
The seniors featured in the video clip below usually attend Barwon Health’s Social Supports Program, coming together weekly to socialise. Due to COVID-19, for most of this year, the program has had to adapt and find innovative ways to keep seniors connected and engaged with each other and the community. One of the outcomes of this is a dance-a-long music clip celebrating and acknowledging the seniors in our community. Their adaptability, positivity and playfulness amongst a challenging year of isolation continues to be an inspiration. We look forward to dancing together again soon.
