Telehealth appointments are available for most Barwon Health clinics and programs. This means you can attend your next appointment via internet video call.
A telehealth consultation is as convenient as a phone call, with the added value of face-to-face communication.You can see, hear, and speak with your Barwon Health clinician, almost as though you were there in person:
- You don't need to travel to Barwon Health for a medical consultation
- You can use telehealth on most laptops, desktop computers, tablets, or smartphones (e.g. iPhone)
- It saves you travel time and expense
- Your own GP or local health professional can provide additional support
What equipment is needed?
Either you or your local health professional will need the following:
- A computer (Windows or Mac), or tablet or smart phone
- A webcam (built in or USB)
- A microphone (usually built in to most laptop computers or webcams) and speakers
- A reliable internet connection
- A reliable phone
- A private well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation
How do I request telehealth?
- Ask your Barwon Health doctor, nurse or healthcare team during your next appointment
- Ring your clinic to see if you can change your next appointment to telehealth
If it is appropriate we will book a telehealth video consultation for you, and send you the access information.
