“Barwon Health welcomes this exciting announcement and will work with the State government to identify the opportunities presented at this site.
As the population in Geelong and the greater Barwon region grows, so does the need for access to safe, quality healthcare.
Expansion of our women’s and children’s services at this site will future-proof paediatric and maternity care for generations to come.
The review will also take into consideration the addition of new services, such as a regional neo-natal intensive care unit. This type of service would ensure the youngest and most unwell babies can receive intensive care in Geelong, without needing to be transferred to Melbourne. This would be of major benefit to families across the region, and reaffirm our position as Australia’s leading regional health service.”
