Barwon Health has successfully achieved accreditation from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQ&S) for Percy Baxter Lodges, our aged care lodges located on the McKellar Centre site in North Geelong.
While we are thrilled to have passed all measurements of clinical and personal care, the ACQ&S has made recommendations related to the food services we offer.
Barwon Health accepts the recommendations related to improving our food services and has already taken steps to better meet residents’ needs.
Percy Baxter Lodge is currently home to 78 people and as we are now seeing an increasingly diverse number of cultures represented amongst our residents, we need to respond to these changes.
Our next step is to review the way we provide food for residents to offer even more flexibility in menu choice, more reflective of our residents’ backgrounds.
We recognise the need to cater to food preferences as our residents become more culturally diverse, and we also provide the opportunity to participate in lifestyle activities that focus on different cultures, which include highlighting unique foods from the featured country.
We are very confident these improvements will be completed when Percy Baxter Lodge is reassessed early next year.
