Cardiology - Emily Picken
Background
After completing a Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University in Burwood, I began my career at Austin Hospital, Heidelberg. I was fortunate to work on the Cardiology/Cardiothoracic Unit where I found my passion for Cardiac Nursing. Later on, I moved to the Geelong area and worked on the Cardiology/Cardiothoracic Unit within University Hospital Geelong. Whilst working here I completed a Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Care. Expanding on my career in Cardiac Nursing, I began working in my current role as a Study Coordinator in Cardiac Research.
Research Focus
I feel very privileged to be a part of such a progressive, dynamic unit and to work with a team of dedicated, experienced and friendly staff.
The current trials I am involved in are focused on improved medical treatment for people with Atrial Fibrillation as well as preventative cholesterol lowering therapy.
