Allied Health Research & Translation - Nicola Lloyd

Background

I am a physiotherapist who has worked clinically in NSW, the UK and now Geelong. I consider myself an acute generalist physio, having worked in senior roles in neurology, oncology, general medicine and my current role is Clinical Lead in Gerontology. I have also worked clinical education and project roles at Barwon Health and completed postgraduate coursework degrees in health services management and public health.

Research Focus

I am currently completing a PhD exploring barriers to evaluating outcomes from public involvement in health service design. Public involvement/consumer engagement in designing and redesigning health services is now required, and expected, in public health systems. However, limited research has been done to determine what outcomes public involvement in health service design achieves and how these outcomes are evaluated. My research explores the barriers and enablers to evaluation, and how evaluation might be improved.
