Radiotherapy Treatment Team
Your radiotherapy treatment team consists of the following staff.
A radiation oncologist specialises in the treatment and management of cancer using radiation. Our radiation oncologists work closely with many other specialists including surgeons, medical oncologists (chemotherapy) and palliative care physicians as part of a multidisciplinary team.

A radiation therapist is a health professional that designs, calculates and delivers your personalised radiation treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Your team of radiation therapists will become quite familiar to you as they are the people that you will see in the treatment room each time you come in for radiotherapy.
Radiation Oncology Nurses
A radiation oncology nurse works in conjunction with the radiation oncologist and radiation therapists to care for you and your family during and after your radiation treatments. They are experts in managing side effects that may occur as a result of the radiation treatment, and providing education and support to you and your family.
Medical physicists run routine quality assurance procedures on the equipment and machines to ensure that the highest quality radiation therapy is delivered. They also assist in ensuring complex treatments are safe and accurate.
Reception & Administration Staff
Our reception staff usually reside at the front desk and can assist you with anything that you may need during your time at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
Registrars & Students
During your treatment, you may come across some of our radiation oncology registrars, radiotherapy students or nursing students. At Barwon Health we are passionate about educating our future, and ensuring that we produce skilled and highly trained staff. We have students throughout the year from Monash University, RMIT and Deakin University.
