| CATS PLAYERS HELP LAUNCH RUN GEELONG 2010 |
 | 6/10/2010 As the temperature cools down over the coming months, locals are urged to warm up and get training and sign up for the inaugural Cotton On Foundation Run Geelong.
Run Geelong is set to become Geelong’s biggest fun run on Sunday 21st November 2010 and will raise funds for the Geelong Hospital Children’s Ward Redevelopment.
The $7 million project will see the Geelong Hospital Children’s ward redeveloped to become a state of the ward for our local kids.
Incorporating a complete refurbishment plus new additions such as a Paediatric Oncology Treatment room, high dependency unit and extended play areas, the project will ensure that local children receive the best facilities to match the wonderful care they receive on the Geelong Hospital Children’s ward.
Cotton Foundation Manager Tim Diamond urges the local community to get behind the event to support local kids.
“Cotton On is excited to be part of an event that can make a big difference in the lives on many kids in the Geelong region. We urge everyone in the community to take part in this event that will be both rewarding and a lot of fun,” he says.
Today pre-registrations were launched to Barwon Health staff at a staff BBQ and Cats players Joel Selwood and Corey Enright were there to support the event and thank the Barwon Heath staff who took part in the event last year.
As hungry Barwon Health staff dined on sausages donated by Coles supermarkets, staff had a chance to see the children’s ward plans first hand and were urged to register for the exciting event.
Entrants in Run Geelong will have the opportunity to enter in either a 12km or 5km course that will take in some of Geelong’s most iconic landmarks such as the Waterfront, city centre, Kardinia Park and Eastern Gardens.
