The Youang Surgery Centre operates Monday to Friday and is our newly expanded service within the existing Operating Services Department at Barwon Health.

Youang Surgery Centre consists of four theatres, we cover off on general surgery, urology, max fax, ENT, gynaecology and plastics.

"After living in Melbourne for several years, I moved back to my hometown of Geelong and decided I would like to work at Barwon Health while completing my nursing degree. I've been here for two years now and have been really lucky to progress my career through a specialist year in my desired field. I am constantly learning and growing as a nurse. There are always new opportunities and challenges that arise and there is always support if you want to try something new or ask for help. In my role as a theatre nurse, I am exposed to new procedures and get to work side by side with the surgeons to give the patient the best outcome possible for their health. Compared to larger cities, in Geelong you feel like you are really giving back to the community that you live in. The other nurses and colleagues I work with make coming to work every day very easy. They always find a way to put a smile on your face and to support you."
