Volunteer Services

Volunteering is about making a difference to others and providing a meaningful contribution to the community.

Volunteers are considered an integral part of Barwon Health. We embrace inclusion and diversity, and we welcome volunteers from all walks of life to join us.

Volunteer roles are held across various areas in Barwon Health but they all offer social, emotional and recreational support to our consumers (patients, residents, carers).

We have volunteer roles in the acute hospital setting, on the road with patient transport, and in other areas such as aged and palliative care.

For eligible applicants, we offer a comprehensive volunteer training program with onboarding and training modules relevant to their volunteer role. Barwon Health volunteer coordinators provide guidance and assistance throughout the process and connect volunteers with program key contacts to ensure adequate support at all stages of the volunteering journey.

We ask that volunteers are available to commit to 12 months and most roles involve a weekly shift of four to six hours.
