Ethics (Clinical)

Clinical Ethics refers to the ethical aspects of clinicians practice and decision making in their day to day procedures and deliberations. Ethics is present in all aspects of patient care and ethical concerns can arise in both particular cases and more general issues.

The Clinical Ethics Service aims to promote ethical reflection and practice through education and consultation.  The service comprises

  • a Clinical Ethics Committee and
  • a Clinical Ethics Case Response Group  (CERG).

The CERG can meet with treating teams to facilitate discussion of ethical issues that arise from clinical cases.  The Clinical Ethics Service is an advisory service only.
