From its earliest days through to today, Barwon Health has relied on its valued volunteers. In fact, Barwon Health’s history began when a group of volunteers formed to establish a public hospital in 1849.
Today, volunteers continue to support the vital work of Barwon Health and enhance the health services provided by our organisation.
Volunteering offers an opportunity to help others and make new friendships. The Geelong region is home to great diversity and we want people representing our community to join us. We welcome volunteers over the age of 18 from all abilities, beliefs and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
While we do have a variety of volunteer roles, there is a common theme – our volunteer programs focus on how we can add to the patient/consumer experience. We support consumers and their families through roles that offer social, emotional and recreational support.
