What is Healthy Workplaces

A workplace that promotes the health and wellbeing of staff also creates a positive and productive setting where people want to come to work.

What we do

We support local workplaces to achieve better health and wellbeing outcomes for their staff.

Why we do it

Staff spend up to a third of their time at work. Healthy workplaces and healthy staff are great for business, the local economy and a thriving community. Benefits of healthy staff include less staff injuries and illness, increased staff retention and improved productivity.

Partnership

We are working with other agencies to increase the health and wellbeing of local workers.

The Barwon Health Healthy Communities Unit and Active Geelong partnered with Cobram Estate Olives to carry out a staff workshop to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour of staff.

We used a Group Model Building approach, consulting with staff to inform the development a new health and wellbeing program for workers at their Lara site.

The consultation engaged workers to design solutions to address barriers to being active, creating a list of prioritised actions for the workplace to consider in their health and wellbeing plan.  100% of participants agreed the topic of the consultation was relevant, and 73% reported an interest in being involved in developing future wellbeing initiatives at Cobram Estate Olives.

The process created a heightened awareness among staff about how active they are at work and new and creative ways to increase their activity levels.
