Allied Health Research & Translation - Isabella Natale
Background
Initially I focused on pharmacology and neuroscience in my undergraduate degree, however following extensive travel, later became interested in public health and completed a Masters in this field.
I have since worked in various roles within harm reduction and mental health across Canada, the UK and Australia. Much of my work has involved delivering projects to improve the health and well-being of people who use drugs. I am currently employed as the Proactive Overdose Response Worker for Barwon Health’s Drug and Alcohol Service.
Research Focus
My first research project is exploring barriers and facilitators for patients on Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence to engage with a community take home naloxone program. Through semi-structured interviews I aim to explore what might make someone more or less likely to accept take home naloxone to utilise in case of an opioid overdose.
