About Us

Background

I am a Registered Nurse and went on to complete my Critical Care Certificate – Cardiothoracic Major in 1993. I furthered my career by earning a Bachelor of Educational Studies at Monash University, and have also completed a Cert. IV in Assessment & Training.

Altogether I have 39 years nursing experience, 29 of those years being in the cardiovascular area with 25 years being specifically related to cardiovascular clinical trials.

Research Focus

I am currently the Manager of the Cardiology Research Unit. I have held this position since 2016, however, I have been in various positions within the Research Unit since joining the team in 2002. The Cardiology Research Unit is a large scale unit and has been involved in clinical trials since June 2000 and is recognised both nationally and internationally for conducting high quality clinical research and exceeding expected recruitment goals. On an ongoing basis, the Unit participates in global Phase II – IV clinical trials in cardiovascular disease, as well as trials and quality projects conducted at the local level. 

Awards & Achievements

• I currently have the pleasure of overseeing a number of cardiovascular trials being conducted in Australia as the National Study Coordinator. In addition to this, I am also a member of a Global Expert Panel for a large international study looking at cardiovascular outcomes in participants with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and systemic inflammation.
• I have recently been appointed as Chair of the Barwon Health Clinical Trials Advisory Committee and I am very much looking forward to being part of the exciting new direction that research is about to embark on here at Barwon Health.
• Captain of the working ladies golf pennant team, representing 13^th Beach Golf Club (2019 - 2021).
