Clinical Trials Unit - Alana Sarah
Background
I have been involved in Clinical Trials at Barwon Health for over 15 years, fulfilling the role of Clinical Trial Manager of the Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) for the past 12 years.
I am currently working on the Clinical Trial Research Support project, an initiative of the Department of Health and Human Services to build trial capacity in public health organisations.
As a science graduate from The University of Melbourne, majoring in microbiology and pathology, I am intrigued by the host/microbe interaction, which formed the basis of my laboratory based honours thesis. Acknowledging my passion for working with people, clinical research was a natural progression of my research career. The experience in this area, introduced me to a the need for robust clinical trial research design and management, and were the impetus for completing a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trial Research and Advanced Diploma in Management.
