Most of the time, we will have been in contact with the dialysis unit to rearrange this. Contact them, or the Preadmission Service on 4215 1627.

These blood tests are required by the anaesthetist, and may be different to the ones you have had recently. You should have these done at the time stated in the letter.

We do request that the tests are done then, to enable the results to be checked, and any further blood tests to be done if necessary.

Whilst every effort is taken to minimise disruption to your life, unfortunately, these appointments are necessary, and cannot be conducted in your home town.

These appointments are required to ensure that you are in the best possible health prior to your surgery. Some of these appointments may be able to be changed, but some of the doctors are only available on certain days at certain times. Contact the Perioperative Service to discuss any problems you may have attending appointments.

I am due to have dialysis on the day I am booked for appointments and/or surgery, what should I do?

I have been asked to have some blood tests, but have had some recently. Do I still need to have these taken? When do I need to have these done?

I live a distance away, are these appointments necessary? Can I see someone in my home town?

Why do I have to come in for appointments before the surgery? Can these appointments be changed?
