Staff celebrated at annual Length of Service and Barwon Best Care Awards

​On Wednesday 2 April, more than 170 staff gathered at Rydges Geelong to celebrate staff who achieved 20, 30 or 40 years of service in 2024, along with the winners of the annual Barwon Best Care Awards.

Congratulations to all staff who achieved this significant milestone, and to the winners of the awards.

  • Safe Care Award

    • Identifying patients with behaviours of concern, led by Christine Cook and team members Sandra Booley, Stacey Skinner and Jennifer Todd.
  • Personal Care Award

    • Effectiveness of a multidisciplinary model of care for chronic lung disease, by Alexandra Cain, Anna Dunn, Monica Hatch and Narelle Missen.
  • Effective Care Award

    • Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) for planned colorectal resection surgery, by Waltraud Almhofer, Yvette Console, Sonal Nagra, Matthew Hall, Matthew Thackeray, Alexandra Hommelhoff, Megan Denton-Brown, Noni Van Korven, Linda Matthews, Michelle Pike.
  • Connected Care Award

    • Codesigning the social supports program with our consumers, led by Linda Kar, Harel Martin, Julie Young and Donna Rochfort.

Four senior retirees were also recognised: Dr Simon Tomlinson, Dr Rob Malon, Alan Burton and Anton Selvakumaran.

40 people also reached 30 years of service and 90 people reached 20 years of service in 2024.
