The first anniversary of Barwon Health North's opening was celebrated on 28 January. Like so many aspects of 2020, services at the Norlane site turned out to be quite different to what was had originally planned.
Community Health clinical director Toni Hogg said as a facility for COVID-19 testing, the site had undertaken more than 55,000 tests, while also providing more healthcare services to the northern suburbs, including urgent care for more than 4000 patients and medical imaging for more than 26,000 patients.
"Since opening, services have gradually increased to include mental health support, a midwives clinic, renal dialysis, specialist child and family services," she said.
"In 2021, we are planning to further expand services to meet the needs of people with chronic health conditions.
"Barwon Health has actively recruited staff from the surrounding suburbs and we will continue to provide these employment opportunities to foster the strong connection that people in the north have with their community."
