Hospital entrance, cafeteria and podium upgrade

Friday, 13 July 2018

A major refurbishment of the University Hospital Geelong main entrance will begin on 16 July to provide a warmer and more welcoming experience to patients and visitors.

With funding from the Barwon Health Future Fund and Barwon Health Foundation, this is a key part of Barwon Health’s ongoing Hospital Improvement Program, which also includes upgrades to the cafeteria and outdoor podium.

Quotes attributable to Barwon Health Public Affairs and Communications Director, Kate Bibby:

We are constantly looking at ways to improve patient and visitor experiences at Barwon Health and this includes evolving the hospital’s general aesthetic.

Our podium upgrade is close to complete, with staff now enjoying a more appealing outdoor seating area for staff, patients and visitors to take a break or share a meal.

The Bellerine Street main entrance is the next area to begin improvements, with construction beginning on Monday. This project will be followed by a much-needed cafeteria upgrade with a variety of seating arrangements for a better dining experience.

Each of these upgrades are focused on updating our appearance to provide all visitors and staff with a more friendly and pleasant experience at University Hospital Geelong.

Volunteers will be on-site to guide visitors and patients as necessary during works.
