Volunteer Bus Driver/Day Program

Tuesday, 17 October 2017

About the role: Would you like to be part of our great Day Program at Belmont?

Barwon Health's Volunteer Transport Service provides a range of voluntary driving services to enhance the wellbeing of Barwon Health consumers and their families. This is achieved by offering accessible transport, caring support and reducing the financial stress on people who already are disadvantaged.

Volunteers will be a vital member of the day program team, firstly by being the driver to pick up and drop off clients from their homes, and then being part of the day program alongside the clients. This involves participating in the day’s activity or just joining them for lunch, some days may even be a scenic drive along the coast followed by a coffee!

What the volunteer can expect: Volunteers provide direct support to clients, carers and families as part of an interdisciplinary team. The volunteer fulfils support requirements identified by clients, carers and families in consultation with members of the interdisciplinary team and the Coordinator of Volunteers.

Volunteers will provide a service picking up clients from their homes and taking them home at the end of the day.

Volunteers will work alongside day program staff, whether this is being the driver for an outing or just being part the day’s activities.

Activities range from having a band play for a few hours, karaoke, dancing or an outing to somewhere new!

What the benefit to our consumers will be: Volunteers provide direct support to clients, carers and families as part of an interdisciplinary team. The volunteer fulfils support requirements identified by clients, carers and families in consultation with members of the interdisciplinary team.

Days and times required: Recruiting two volunteers for six hours per shift Wednesday/Thursday & one Monday per month
