Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, employing over 9,000 people across all disciplines. Currently, Barwon Health employs approximately 65 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff across the areas of Medicine, Mental Health, Community Health, Surgical and Critical Care and Corporate Services and across six different sites.

There is a dedicated Aboriginal Health Unit based at University Hospital Geelong. The staff within the Unit provide cultural support and advocate for Aboriginal health in all its forms.
