Testimonials
After working in the private sector, I was looking for something more community-focused, and Barwon Health offered exactly that. As an internationally trained dentist beginning my career in Australia, I found the environment here to be incredibly welcoming and supportive.
Since joining, I’ve grown both professionally and personally. The senior dentists are always approachable, and the opportunities for development, including CPD activities and committee involvement have been excellent. What I enjoy most is helping patients in pain, especially those with dental anxiety or limited access to care. Barwon Health also values work-life balance, offering ADOs and flexibility, which made a real difference during my pregnancy and maternity leave.
As a new graduate, I was drawn to Barwon Health for the mentorship and learning opportunities. The graduate program has been incredibly valuable, it offers case discussions, skill development, and strong support from experienced dentists. I’ve grown more confident, especially in complex procedures, and there’s always someone around to offer advice or share their knowledge.
I love providing compassionate, patient-focused care, especially helping those with dental anxiety return for regular check-ups. Working with kids in the school dental vans has also been a highlight. Barwon Health not only supports my professional growth but also ensures a great work-life balance. The monthly ADOs help me recharge, and when I injured my ankle, the Early Intervention team made my recovery and return to work smooth and supported.
I moved to the area on a lecturer’s recommendation to check out Barwon Health, and I’m really glad I did. With a background as a dental prosthetist, I joined after working in both hospital and private practice settings.
Barwon Health has supported my growth by offering leadership roles and courses that have helped me develop clinically and as a manager. The most rewarding part is providing care to those who might otherwise miss out. The positive, collaborative team here makes every day dynamic and fulfilling. Plus, with five weeks’ leave, monthly ADOs, and flexible management, work-life balance is truly supported.
Coming from a retail background, I wanted a new challenge that still focused on helping people. The administration traineeship at Barwon Health was the perfect opportunity to step into healthcare, and it’s been life-changing. It gave me stability, professional growth, and a supportive team environment.
Since starting, I’ve developed valuable skills and found real purpose in my role. Helping people in pain, supporting their oral health, and working with the School Dental Program keeps each day interesting and rewarding. Barwon Health also understands the importance of work-life balance as a parent, that flexibility has meant the world to me.

I first came to Barwon Health in 2012 as a refugee receiving dental care, and that experience inspired me to pursue a career in oral health. Now, as a new graduate Oral Health Therapist, I’m proud to give back to the same community that once cared for me. From day one, the team has been welcoming and supportive, making my transition from university smooth and rewarding. I’ve already had the chance to build my skills, work with diverse patients, and see the real difference we can make in people’s lives.
