Barwon Health’s Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) is a forward-looking unit with a vision to be at the leading edge of psychiatric treatment.

We are always seeking motivated, skilled and curious psychiatrists to join our service and have opportunities at various levels across our general acute, community services and specialist programs.

About the service

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry (Colac), eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry and research psychiatry.

We have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical education and research activities through the IMPACT and CHIME units and a dedicated focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.

Consultant Psychiatrists Opportunities

Barwon MHDAS currently have full/ or part time opportunities suitable for recently graduated or experienced psychiatrists across our service, including:

  • Acute Services (Consultation liaison, Bed based, Hospital in the home and Emergency services).
