The Regional Neuropsychology Service is a program funded by the Department of Human Services to provide neuropsychological services to people with acquired brain injury (ABI) in the Barwon South West region.
The service provides neuropsychological assessments, education to clients, families & workers and advice on cognitive and behavioural difficulties. To be eligible for the service clients must be residents of the Barwon South West Region, aged 6 to 64, be non compensable and have a diagnosis or presumed diagnosis of ABI. Assessments are conducted at McKellar Centre, Geelong and at Lyndoch, Warrnambool. Assessments at Warrnambool occur approximately every 4 weeks.
Requests for assessments can be made directly to the Regional Neuropsychology Service and referral forms will be forwarded. Outside the normal work days for the service queries can be directed to the CRC manager at McKellar Centre (Barwon Region Ph: 5279 2383) or the ABI Project officer at Lyndoch (South West Region Ph: 5562 4908).
Priority will be given to those clients who require confirmation of ABI diagnosis to access ABI services (& who are in urgent need of services), who require an assessment to provide recommendations for a rehabilitation or community integration program and to those who are not able to access neuropsychology assessments through an alternative source e.g. rehabilitation team, MS Society etc. There is no cost for assessments. |
