Service Description:The service aims to increase public awareness of mental health issues, promote positive mental health and provide information to the community on available services.
Mental Health Promotion Officers have a focus on the mental health needs of children and adolescents, and operate from a community development model to create frameworks, structures and policy to facilitate lasting change.
The 5 main strategies of action for mental health promotion are:
Building Public Policy that promotes mental health
Creating environments that promote mental health
Strengthening community action
Developing personal skills
Expanding the focus of health services
How Mental Health Promotion can assist you:
Education and training for workers with children and young people around mental health related issues.
Consultation around access to child and adolescent mental health services, training opportunities, project development etc.
Participation in collaborative partnerships on a regional and state-wide basis around broad based initiatives e.g.  MindMatters, Vichealth, Beyond Blue, Mental Health Foundation of Victoria.
Informing public policy and planning.
