The Acute Admission Unit is located at the Swanston Centre. The centre provides a 24 bed acute unit and offers short term acute hospital treatment.

It provides a bed based acute psychiatric service for informal and involuntary admissions from the adult, aged and adolescent services of the Barwon Region. The unit contains shared or single room accommodation with ensuite facilities, dining and lounge areas, two courtyards and therapy/program area.

A seclusion suite of three bedrooms attached to a small lounge for those clients requiring specialised low stimuli secure care is located within the unit.

Clients are admitted into the unit in an informal capacity or under the Mental Health Act as an involuntary patients.
