Barwon Health's Eating Disorders Service provides assessment and treatment recommendations for clients with an eating disorder and offers a secondary consultation service to GPs and other healthcare providers.
The target group:
- Clients predominantly
between 12-25 years presenting with anorexia, and/or bulimia. - GPs and other services,
including schools who may be working with young people with eating disorders.
What the program offers:
- Assessment of young people with disordered eating
- Reporting and
recommendations to the treating doctor regarding ongoing management of clients with an eating disorder. - Secondary consultation,
education, training and support to GPs and services working with young people who may be experiencing eating disorders. - For a small number of
clients, in partnership with their GP the team may provide specialist treatment of eating disorders or linkages to private providers who can provide treatment. - This service has no scope
to manage emergency or crisis presentations.
