Mental Illness Fellowship of Victoria is a membership based, not for profit organisation. We work in partnership with people with a mental illness, their carers, families and friends, to improve their wellbeing. We provide advocacy to increase understanding and acceptance of mental illness in the community. Support, education and advocacy are provided through a range of service options.
In the Barwon Region, we provide the following services:

Clients with psychiatric disability and family. Early intervention and ongoing support. Community education aimed at ‘good’ mental health practices and reduction of the stigma associated with mental illness. Support and information for carers/families. Psychiatric crisis intervention. Provision of appropriate and accessible social/life skills and self-management strategies and programs.

Provides a structured pathway of carer for people over the age of 16, who are experiencing problems as a result of a diagnosed mental illness. Care is provided in a variety of ways, outreach, site, based, one to one and in-group settings. Trained Mental Health Workers provide participants with support to identify and address whole of life issues that are having an impact on personal wellness.

Provides a range of services and supports to people with a mental illness. The program primarily targets those who have experienced serious mental illness, which is complicated by issues such as isolation, homelessness or drug and alcohol problems. Services offered include individual home-based outreach support and social recreation. People can request services themselves or can be referred by a service provider, friend, family member or medical practitioner.
