The Diabetes Referral Centre consists of a multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists, two advances diabetes trainee registrars, diabetes educators, dietitian, podiatrist and nursing staff who see inpatients and outpatients.

Other specialties such as renal, ophthalmology, vascular and mental health services are co-opted as required.

The centre also specialises in the management of type 1 diabetes, pregnancy and diabetes and those with unstable diabetes or acute complications of diabetes (type 1 and type 2). Ambulatory stabilisation is offered through the "Hospital in the Home" program. Teaching of health professionals is also part of the service. The Centre has close links with local GPs and diabetes support services such as Diabetes Australia and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
