The Geelong Hospital Audiology Department offers a broad range of diagnostic Audiology services on an impatient and outpatient basis. Services are provided to all age groups, from newborns to the very aged and can be modified to suit patients with special needs.
SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Audiometric evaluations, Speech Audiometry and Tympanometry
- Neonatal and infant hearing screening
- Otoacoustic emissions analysis (DPOAE’s and TEOAE’s)
- Evoked response audiometry (ABR, SSEP)
- Central Auditory Processing screening and assessment
- Assessment and management of Inpatients
- Inpatient loan of assistive listening devices
- Emergency hearing aid troubleshooting
Incidence of hearing loss is high among the over 70’s age group and this is often undiagnosed or poorly managed, potentially exacerbating cognitive and communication deficits. Audiology staff provides an inpatient service in order to reduce the impact of hearing loss. |
