The Service provides information, support and short term or occasional flexible respite options to unpaid carers of people who are frail aged, have a palliative illness, dementia, physical disability, behavioural disorder, neurological disorder, sensory impairment or psychiatric illness. The Service responds to the individual needs of carers, with carer support workers available to visit carers in their own home to discuss and plan for individual respite needs.
Respite allows carers to take time out for their own needs and also provides a break for the person being cared for. Respite can be in the home, the community or in a residential facility. A 24 hour emergency support service is provided to carers experiencing a crisis. |
