Aged Care
The McKellar Centre offers a range of professional aged care services. It is situated on a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds and incorporates state of the art equipment.
The State Government has generously committed over $100 million to this redevelopment that is transforming the McKellar Centre site into a vibrant
centre for rehabilitation and aged care excellence.
In August 2006, the Minister for Aged Care, Gavin Jennings opened Wallace Lodge. It provides state of the art single and shared accommodation for 108 residents and is named after Doctor Frederick Hilton Wallace. The final component of stage 2 of the McKellar Centre development involved the construction of the 90-bed Blakiston Lodge. It opened in July 2007 and provide high level care to residents.
Much progress has been made on stage 3 of the McKellar Centre development which involves the construction of a 108 bed high level care nursing home on land adjacent to the Surf Coast Highway in Grovedale. Residents currently based in Peter Street, Groveddale and John Robb House, Belmont will relocate to this facility in mid 2008.
