This includes any project that is being reviewed under the auspices of the Barwon Health HREC, such as:

• Standard (> low risk)  
• Low Negligible Risk
• Expedited

Standard
Barwon Health requires standard applications to use the NEAF, in keeping with the Streamlined Ethics Review processes. Please refer to the website for the Consultative Council for Human Research Ethics at http://www.health.vic.gov.au/cchre/index.htm for application details.

Documentation Required:

• NEAF 
• Victorian Specific Module 

• Participant Information and Consent Form

• Barwon Health specific add barcode template: PICF Barcode Template
• SSA: Signatures required 

• Cover letter for HREC submission
• Curriculum Vitae (If not previously submitted)
• Legal and Regulatory

All other applications may use Low Risk  and Module 6.

One (1) complete hard copy delivered to the Office for Research, room 42 Kitchener House on or before COB of the RRC agenda closure day.

The Research Review Committee (RRC) is the first point of submission.

Process
Research Review Committee
All applications initially undergo a governance and scientific review by the Research Review Committee (RRC) who are empowered to approve low or negligible risk.

Incomplete paperwork may delay your application.

The RRC communicate via a “Reporting Tool”. Responses must be made using this tool. The project will not progress until queries are addressed.

Human Research Ethics Committee
Projects of greater than low risk require HREC review.
Please address the RRC queries in the reporting tool and provide one (1) electronic response electronic sent to hrec@barwonhealth.org.au and one (1)  complete hard copy delivered to the Office for Research, room 42 Kitchener House on or before COB of the RRC agenda closure day. Please address only the queries and only provide copies of updated documents or any changes made. The office organises copying of your application for the HREC review.
