Minister for Senior Victorians, Lisa Neville, officially opened Barwon Health’s newest aged care facility, Alan David Lodge, on Friday 17 October 2008.
The Victorian Government provided $24.9 million in funding for this facility to be built.
Selecting the site for this facility was based on a combination of factors, including suitable land availability and the projected population growth corridor of Armstrong Creek.
Residents and families have played an important role in choosing soft furnishing fabrics, décor and surrounding plants and shrubs. The layout of the new facility features two geographically separate units that the residents have named Bellarine and Otways. Each unit has three eighteen bed wings and a central connecting main entrance.
In May 2008, the 108 residents from Unit 6 on the McKellar site, John Robb House in Belmont and Peter Street in Grovedale moved into their new home at Alan David Lodge.
