On 8 February 2008 the Victorian Minister for Health, Daniel Andrews took a tour of the new Emergency Department (ED). He was able to see first hand the ED taking shape with the walls, ambulance entrances, treatment cubicles as well as the various patient care areas and waiting rooms well under construction.
The structure of the Emergency Department tower building is now complete, and external cladding about 90% complete. Fit out of Level 1 is now well advanced and fit out of Level 2 has also commenced. The final completion of the Emergency Department is scheduled for December 2008. Minister Andrews was pleased with the progress that was being made.
Whist visiting Geelong Hospital, he also announced a $763,500 funding boost. This will be used to provide eight new anaesthetic machines for the theatre suite and a new and modern ultrasound system for the imaging area. 2/8/2008 |
