The ramp to the Bellerine Centre is the entrance for Birthing Suite, Maternity Day Assessment Unit and the Postnatal Ward (Myers Street).

The doors are locked between 9:00pm and 6:00am. There is an intercom located at the entrance to enable you to gain access. It is helpful if you call Birthing Suite on 03 5226 7513 before you leave home so staff can prepare for your arrival.

Birthing Suite staff provide care for women in labour and also for women with some pregnancy complications. There are a total of eight birth rooms, each with an ensuite. Baths are available to use for pain relief and planned water birth where appropriate. Meals are not provided for support people, however tea and coffe making facilities are available.

Support of labour

You may like to choose support people to stay with you during labour and birth. We suggest you plan to have no more than three people present. Children are welcome, but an adult is required to accompany them.
