Geelong’s spectacular waterfront is set to light up with love for the 2008 PathCare Messages of Love event on Sunday 5th October.
Raising vital funds for Barwon Health’s Cancer Services and the Andrew Love Cancer Centre, the unique event will give members of the Geelong community the opportunity to purchase a floating lantern and write a message on it in memory of a loved one lost to cancer, in support of someone currently being treated for the disease, or in celebration of a survivor.
As darkness falls, the lanterns will be released to float on the water in a stunning and touching ceremony.

Gavin Seidel, Executive Director of the Barwon Health Foundation, is urging locals to get behind the event.
“PathCare Messages of Love will be a special evening for those within our community who have been touched by cancer and most importantly, it will be raising funds to ensure that the very best treatment can continue to be offered in our region,” he says.
“Those who attended the event last year found it to be both meaningful and memorable and seeing the lanterns floating on the water was a wonderful sight."
Members of the public are invited to come down to Eastern Beach Promenade from 6:00pm and enjoy a night on the Waterfront prior to the ceremony-taking place around 8pm. A sausage sizzle will be available on site and entertainment will be provided with Roxie Bennett hosting the night.
